Martin Palúch became Art Film Fest’s artistic director

After a one-year break, the oldest and largest Slovak film festival will return to the capital of eastern Slovakia from 16 to 23 June 2023. Due to the extremely difficult economic situation in the field of culture, the organisers made the decision to hold the event only at the end of February. The 29th Art Film Fest will take place from 16 to 23 June in Košice.
After a two-year break, the oldest and largest Slovak film festival returns to the capital of eastern Slovakia.

Film fans can once again look forward to more than 130 screenings of feature and short films, which will be screened in at least six different cinemas in Košice. The programme will include two competition sections – the Blue Angel International Feature Film Competition and the International Short Film Competition, as well as the ceremonies popular with the audience and the media – the Actor’s Mission and the Golden Camera award ceremonies. A special tribute will be dedicated to the memory of Art Film Fest’s only president, Milan Lasica. The festival will also include an industry programme for film and audiovisual professionals.

Martin Palúch became the artistic director of the festival and the main film programmer of AFF 2023, who said: “I have great respect for the position of the festival’s artistic director because of the rich history of Art Film Fest. I would like to continue the tradition of the biggest film event in our country by maintaining the high artistic level of the programme. I will do my best to deliver an attractive offer of quality films to the visitors and to provide an attractive supporting programme with the participation of interesting guests and delegations to the films. The entire production team is working hard to achieve this goal. We are already looking forward to the reactions of audiences and invited filmmakers, the feedback from the media and the opinions of representatives from the audiovisual community.”
