Discounted cinepasses now on sale for 25th Art Film Fest – Košice 2017. New this year: VIP tent city at festival’s heart.

Starting on 3 April 2017, discounted cinepasses (all-festival passes) will go on sale at artfilmfest.sk for this year’s Art Film Fest, which will be held from 16 to 24 June in Košice. Two types of cinepass at a special advance-sale price will be available exclusively for registered users of the reservation system. The first purchasers will also receive a place in the tent city free of charge.

Classic Cinepass – the standard all-festival pass

For a limited time only, the Classic Cinepass is available for €15.00; as the festival approaches, this price will increase. This type of cinepass grants the holder entry to the festival’s public screenings and public accompanying events (as venue capacity allows). The Classic Cinepass is valid for an unlimited number of screenings from 16 to 24 June 2017. It can hold up to five screening reservations at a time. Once a reserved screening begins, the cinepass holder can immediately make a subsequent reservation in its place. The cinepass will also grant entry to screenings without a reservation, provided that there are still available seats five minutes before show time. In addition, cinepass holders are entitled to a free festival catalogue. The Classic Cinepass is available for a reduced price at artfilmfest.sk in the Tickets section.

Student Cinepass

Art Film Fest has always been a student-friendly festival, and this year is no exception, offering the discounted all-festival Student Cinepass for the incredible price of €6.00. The Student Cinepass grants the holder entry to the festival’s public screenings and public accompanying events (as venue capacity allows). It is valid for an unlimited number of screenings from 16 to 24 June 2017. Purchasing a Student Cinepass online requires a valid ISIC, ITIC or EURO26 card. When purchasing a Student Cinepass at a box office during the festival, however, students can also use other forms of identification to confirm their student status. The Student Cinepass can hold up to five screening reservations at a time. Once a reserved screening begins, the cinepass holder can immediately make a subsequent reservation in its place. The cinepass will also grant entry to a screening without a reservation, provided that there are still available seats five minutes before show time.

Free VIP tent city reservation

New to this year’s Art Film Fest is the VIP tent city with a limited capacity of 200 people (100 tent spaces). This unique accommodation option allows visitors to camp out right where the action is, in Košice’s Kulturpark, a lovely, grassy, tree-shaded area just metres from the cinemas. The organizers have taken every precaution to ensure the security of the tents and their occupants, and the area will be fenced off and guarded around the clock. Campers will also have access to sanitary facilities, showers and refreshments nearby. Securing an exclusive place in the tent city requires registering online. The first 50 cinepass holders will be given precedence in registering for a free tent space. Others will need to pay a one-time fee of €8.50 per person. For more information, see the Tent City section at artfilmfest.sk.

Programme

As always, this year’s programme will be divided into multiple sections, including the bonus category Be2Can Starter, an exclusive overview of the best films from Venice, Berlin and Cannes. Several titles in this year’s section have already been revealed. Viewers can look forward to the Filipino film The Woman Who Left, winner of Venice’s Golden Lion, as well as the suggestive Voyage of Time from US visionary Terrence Malick, the Argentinean tragicomedy The Distinguished Citizen, recipient of the Volpi Cup for Best Actor, and Emir Kusturica’s madcap On the Milky Road, starring Monica Bellucci.
The 2017 Košice Art Film Fest will also feature several Slovak festival premieres such as the Danish black comedy Small Town Killers, fast becoming a festival hit, and Glory, the most acclaimed Bulgarian film in recent memory.
